A more responsible
conference.

CHoPS 2027 is building a rail-first, low-waste and climate-responsible conference in Delft. As engineers, scientists and practitioners, we want to minimise the footprint of the event - and lead by example.

What We Are Committing To

Three practical priorities.

Our focus is on the areas where we can make meaningful and practical changes to the conference footprint.
 01 - TRAVEL 

Rail-first travel

We encourage train travel whenever feasible. Delft is well connected with Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.

 02 - CATERING 

Low-waste catering

Vegetarian-first options, local sourcing where possible, active food-waste reduction, reusable serviceware and refill water stations.

 03 - OPERATIONS 

Digital-first

A digital programme by default, responsible materials and clear prompts that make sustainable choices the easy choices.

Event Footprint

What we include.

To estimate a realistic footprint per participant, we include the most meaningful sources of emissions associated with CHoPS 2027.

Travel to and from the conference
Catering and food production
Energy use of the venue and AV equipment
Printed materials and merchandise
Accommodation for invited speakers
30–80  tonnes CO₂ · approximate total footprint 
Taken together, these factors typically represent an estimated 30–80 tonnes of CO₂ for a three-day conference, depending particularly on participants' travel modes and distances.
Carbon Offsetting

Choose your travel profile.

During registration you can select an offset option aligned with your expected travel type. The indicative amounts also include an allowance for venue energy, catering and materials.

Climate Partner

Trees for All.

CHoPS 2027 collaborates with Trees for All, a Dutch foundation that plants and protects forests worldwide based on the principle of putting the right tree in the right place.

Their projects support reforestation, biodiversity, local communities and long-term ecological resilience.

Low-waste operations.

Sustainability continues throughout the conference experience at TU Delft.

Catering

Vegetarian-first menus, reusable dishes, cups and cutlery, refill water stations and clearly labelled dietary options.

Materials

Digital programme by default, printing only when needed, and responsible conference materials and lanyards.

Waste & Recycling

On-site sorting and recycling stations with clear signage to support responsible choices throughout the venue.
